Very rare 1968 Subaru Young S Sport model, 22,271 miles, VIN #79310106. 1968 is the first year that the Subaru 360 was imported into the US and this is the Young S model that was made in very small numbers. The Young S included the factory racing stripe on the roof and tachometer. I have owned this car for 3 years and the previous owner did some restoration including: new clutch, rebuilt generator, new battery, major tune-up including new air cleaner, etc, rebuilt carburetor, new gas tank, new tires, miscellaneous suspension and drivetrain work, and it is now mechanically perfect and the original engine performs great. The interior and headliner, which are original are in excellent condition overall with virtually no wear. About 5 years ago the previous owner completely painted the car which has been yellow since it was new and has always been nearly rust free. There is some minor surface rust in small spots at the bottom of the inside door frames and rockers but overall the body is in excellent condition. The paint is high quality, although not Concours show condition. I just completed a 100 mile drive in one day at speeds up to 55 mph on the highway and the car performed flawlessly, is very tight, and it starts instantly. There have been many Subaru 360 models for sale, many of which are rusty and need major mechanical work, but rarely has a Young S been on the market that is ready to enjoy with no work needed. I looked at many Subaru 360s before I bought this car. The yellow color works very well and the last car show I entered it in, the car had a crowd around it all day. Price is $11,900.
